Cocke County Warrant Searches
The official Cocke County Online Court Records System searches Circuit Court and General Sessions case records. It is the only local public case-search interface located in the research, and it is not labeled as a warrant database. Select the likely court and Criminal case type, then search by a full name, year, number, or case reference.
Use a result as a lead. The screen has no current-warrant status filter and does not cover a Newport city citation or the Parrottsville Town Court. Call the clerk named on the record to confirm whether process is active, served, recalled, or quashed.
- Use the TNCRT public case search and choose Circuit Court or General Sessions with the matching case type.
- Enter one identifier at a time. A full name, case year, or case number can start the search.
- For a Newport or Parrottsville ordinance matter, call the city or town office named on the paper.
- Call the issuing clerk, then the Sheriff at 423-623-6004 for service or custody questions.
- If the portal does not show the file, make a focused Tennessee Public Records Act request to the office holding it.
Cocke County Warrant Search Limits
The public interface lists Party Name, Case Year, Case Number, Court Type, and Case Type. A Cloudflare Turnstile check must be completed before Find Now is enabled. Search Help describes compound criteria, quoted phrases, typo tolerance for longer terms, sorting, and a maximum of 2,500 returned rows.
The official portal shows Circuit Court and General Sessions as its court choices. It has no municipal-court, warrant-type, active-status, date-of-birth, or bond control. The result filter searches visible text after a search; it does not add missing city records.
The Cocke County case search is the county source for those controls.
The visible form is a court-case search, not a complete active-warrant screen.
What a Warrant Search Asks For
TNCRT uses text fields and court/case checkboxes rather than a dedicated warrant form. Search Help recommends a full first and last name. When a name is common, add a year or case number instead of broadening the query.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Party Name | Text, 100 characters | Optional if year or number is used | Full name works best; do not combine a name and a case reference. |
| Match all terms | Checkbox | Checked by default | Search Help explains term matching and fallback behavior. |
| Case Year | Text, 4 characters | No | Usually the year the case was filed. |
| Case Number | Text, 50 characters | No | For a formatted number, enter the numeric part after the last hyphen. |
| Court Type | Checkboxes | At least one | Circuit Court or General Sessions. |
| Case Type | Checkboxes | At least one | Criminal or Civil. |
| Find Now | Button | Turnstile first | The control starts disabled until the anti-bot check is completed. |
| Results filter | Text after search | No | Matches visible result text; result columns can also be sorted. |
Matching Cocke County Warrants by Name
Search Help says the portal normalizes terms to lowercase, removes non-spacing marks, and considers the first ten words of a Party Name or Case Reference query. Quoted text can search as a phrase, and typo tolerance applies to terms with five or more characters. Those tools help with a typed query, but they do not prove that two similar names are the same person.
Keep the result tied to the court paper, case year, or number. If the record is not clearly yours or your relative's, do not rely on a name-only match. Ask the clerk to confirm the correct case.
The General Sessions Clerk's official contact page lists the office that answers many county traffic and misdemeanor case questions.
The clerk can connect a search result to the court file that actually controls it.
Cocke County Warrant Search Results
A case or docket may expose the underlying court activity rather than a clean warrant card. Cocke Circuit docket structures include charge and statute, referring agency, hearing type and date, process notes, bond, service, disposition, and a next setting. A sample format from portal help is shown below; it is not a person's record.
| Case reference | For example, 99GS1-2023-CR-12345 shows a format only; enter the numeric suffix in the case-number field. |
|---|---|
| Charge / agency | The docket may name a count, Tennessee Code section, offense, and referring agency. |
| Hearing event | Hearing type/date and notes can mention capias issuance, service, reset, or a proposed quash. |
| Bond / hold | A bond block may show type, amount, or hold language; the entry is case-specific. |
| Current status | A historical note is not a live status. Ask the issuing clerk whether process remains open. |
Cocke County Warrant Results Need a Clerk
A TNCRT entry can help locate a file, but the public search has no Active, Outstanding, Recalled, or Served filter. It also does not show a warrant-type selector, bond search, or public View Warrant button. Ask the issuing clerk whether an event is current and which office has a service copy.
Read the date beside a capias or service note. A docket may describe an event that later changed. A civil record, juvenile file, sealed case, or recent municipal citation may not appear in the ordinary county search.
Cocke County Warrants: Who Holds What
Use the office tied to the case. General Sessions Clerk Brenda Ramsey is the local route for many misdemeanor, traffic, and FTA matters. Circuit Court Clerk handles felony, probation, and Circuit docket questions. Newport Municipal Court holds city ordinance and traffic records; Parrottsville Town Hall is the first town-court call.
Then contact the Sheriff's Office for what it can confirm about service or custody. Tennessee has no public statewide warrant search located in the research. TITAN is restricted to law enforcement, and the TBI Most Wanted page is a selected program rather than a statewide database.
Cocke County City Warrant Calls
TNCRT offers only Circuit Court and General Sessions as Court Type choices. It has no Newport or Parrottsville municipal checkbox. Newport's official court page lists City Hall and a recurring first-and-third Thursday schedule; call the clerk for the current date, amount, or status. Parrottsville's charter gives its Town Court process and docket authority, but no public docket or warrant form was found.
A no-match county search does not settle either municipal question. Use the city or town name on the citation to find the right local office.
Which Warrants Stay Restricted
The Tennessee Public Records Act reaches existing public records held by the right county, city, or town office. It does not require an agency to make a new list. Sealed material, protected investigative records, and juvenile files may be withheld or redacted. Newport Form A is for existing city records and asks the requester to describe the record, dates, and topic.
Key Rules:
Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-503 allows a sufficiently specific request for existing public records, subject to the law's access rules.
Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-504 covers public-record exceptions; court rules and orders can also limit access.
Juvenile records have separate limits under Tenn. Code Ann. § 37-1-153. A blank search result is not proof that no warrant exists.
Cocke County Warrant Requests by Type
If an online search does not answer the question, ask for a focused record from the office that keeps it. Name the court or agency, the record type, dates, and the case or citation reference. Tennessee guidance says the custodian need not create a combined countywide warrant report or gather records held by separate offices.
Newport Form A asks whether the requester is a Tennessee citizen and offers pickup, mail, electronic delivery when practical, or another method. It lists the first 20 copies or scans as free and then $0.50 per page. The official Form A is a copy-request tool, not a live warrant lookup.
The Tennessee Public Records Act FAQ explains the request rules that apply to existing government records.
Ask for an estimate before requesting copies, and keep the response with the court paper.
